Dry Your Eyes
04:56
|
|
||
i been walkin down those same old streets
yes i been walkin till theres blisters on my feet
i see people with faces like a wall
if you look closer they hardly care at all
but there are some people out there
who listen to your cries
so keep your chin up babe
and dry your eyes
i been thinkin till theres nothin on my mind
yes i been thinkin till my memories unwind
i'm pretty distant or so theyve been telling me
can't tell my dreams from reality
but there are some people out there
who listen to your cries
so keep your chin up babe
and dry your eyes
there's no reason for you to feel this way
yes theres no reason for showing this dismay
just crack a smile and i promise you'll be fine
clear your mind and let your positivity shine
cos there are some people out there
who listen to your cries
so keep your chin up babe
and dry your eyes
i don't know much but i know what i love
yes i dont know much it's still you i'm thinkin of
i don't care if there's nothing left to say
i'm getting stronger and happier by the day
cos there are some people out there
who listen to your cries
so keep your chin up babe
and dry your eyes

Rain
02:16
|
|
||
the clouds above are as dark as night
and shed the tears through beams of light
rivers flow and spread the news
the rain has come to capture you
the trees entwine along the street
high above the branches meet
you hope it keeps the wet away
but rain it finds another way
You stop and turn the storm has spread
the rain is just one step ahead
there's no escape, you cannot win
you let it fall upon your skin
the clouds above they fade away
the birds and bees come out to play
silence breaks, there's no one left
the rain has made it's final theft

Banjo Man
03:39
|
|
||
there once lived a man who was higher than a kite
he lived in a shadow thicker than a misty night
he hasn't seen a soul in a decade or three
all he has is his banjo which he plays under a tree
covered in wrinkles deep across his skin
his overall complection shows the history he has seen
he wears a hooded raincoat made of polar bear fur
when he tries to sing along it always turns into a slur
he used to have a band somewhere up in the north
they'd always travel round going back and forth
he'd board a train to meet them for the purpose of
recording an album only they would know and love
but now those days are over and the lands have split
noone heard his cries or saw the beacons that he lit
he's stranded and he has no company
but he plays a mean banjo he gently plucks upon his knee
he's old and he is tired waiting for somebody to
save him from the loneliness that's he's been put through
his loved ones have forgotten to remember who he was
the melancholy banjo man plays songs about his flaws

Times Are Tight
02:20
|
|
||
take it easy man, relax and clear your head
there's no need to be stressed and filled with dread
all the people who make you feel this way
sooner or later they're gonna have to pay
you're bound to fight
for what is right
when it's too hard and the times are tight
you've been working so hard, you're burning out
it's all been building up and you just want to shout
but remember you have got to keep your cool
you don't want to be wasting all your fuel
you're bound to fight
for what is right
when it's too hard and the times are tight
no one said it would be easy to grow old
or that people get so sour and so cold
it's so easy to see the glass empty
but just remind yourself that nothing is plenty
you're bound to fight
for what is right
when it's too hard and the times are tight
so breathe easy and then just count to three
your troubles will float away in the breeze
there's nothing to worry about anymore
so stop feeling so god damn insecure
you're bound to fight
for what is right
when it's too hard and the times are tight

Identity Blues
02:02
|
|
||
tried to be someone who i wasn't
better be myself now or so help me
gotta stop lying to all the people
who i love and care about deeply
nobody really knows who you are
had a few lovers in my time
never gonna leave you and all that shit
i really dont why i even bothered
i dont even know if the flame was ever lit
no one really bats an eyelid truth be told
gotta find a way to block these feelings
lurking in the dark and dragging me down
roots of the trees are grabbing my ankles
and pulling me underneath the ground
sinking so low the earth can't spit you out
theres so much violence everywhere
innocent people being killed
no one can stop it whats the use
of tryin to be a human shield
what the hell on earth is going on
friends and family are always there
without them no one would be here
so many sad faces around the world
everyone would be living in fear
everybody's got someone oh that's for sure
well ive gotta go now it's been real
the chord progression's killin my hands
better stop before they start to fall off
and put the guitar back in it's stand
fair the well my friendly counterparts

Drivin
01:24
|
|
||
drivin down the road leading to the sky
high above the clouds where songbirds fly
the silver linings gleam, wind screen wipers clean
seagulls cant believe what they have seen
orange sun pokes out takes a look about
catches sight of us casts a shodow of doubt
a mile high off ground twice the speed of sound
wheels go round and round and round and round
higher higher now we drive to the stars
shall we visit mars in our flying car

San Diego Zoo

san diego zoo ohh i say
it's where i want to be today
see the goats and see the people
staring into cages at the
animals who look back at them and
the people looking back again
smiling faces everywhere
they're just so happy to be there
san diego zoo ohh i say
it's where i want to be today
see the apes and see the penguins
swimming in the ice cold water
can you hear the lions roar and
all the lazy sloths are snor-ing
so many noises you can hear
but don't worry, there's no fear at
san diego zoo ohh i say
it's where i want to be today
see the lemurs climbing trees
and banana eatin' chimpanzees
there's even a safari too
available at this zoo
put on a hat and strap in tight
you're going on a ride of your life at
san diego zoo ohh i say
it's where i want to be today
it's where the beach boys took that shoot
why don't come with me en route

Brown Eyed Friend
02:40
|
|
||
how have you been my brown eyed friend
the gaps in your soul too damaged to mend
vanshed like smoke into the wind
who knows where you end and where you begin
what do you see? a mournful face
of a broken clock on the fireplace
that slowly ticks away from what has been
memories hidden somewhere deep within
removing the old and replacing with new
tossed aside everything you ever knew
if habits remain they will disown
leaving you helpless and so alone

Two Worlds
02:08
|
|
||
how can i explain without driving you insane
the wind it swallows up your fear
spits it out and rubs it till it's clear
one day the sparrow leaves his nest
to find the weight's still on his chest
but it's too late to turn back on this
cos time inches closer to death's kiss
when the writing is on the wall
you don't read it, you only see it fall
when it tumbles it leaves a mark on you
then a silence echoes through the dew
when i try to plant the seed of hope
why does it wilt instead of try to cope
it's leaves are picked off one by one
as the sun drifts off to sleep the day is done
the pillar of love once made of stone
collapses, before the birds have flown
and it such a shame that no two worlds can meet as one again

Valley Of Dispute
03:24
|
|
||
i must have been a fool when i believed
that i could never have been deceived
by someone who drained all the love from me
the salt's poured in the wound
it's not healing any time soon
the pain has been with me ever since last june
i'm stumbling through the fields
where all will be revealed
where i'll find out how i'm going to feel
when your friend turns out the light
and there's not a soul in sight
to guide you through the valley of dispute
they say the time will come
the general rule of thumb
that someone great appears to be the one
i don't sleep anymore
my thoughts race till it's sore
thinking there could be something more
it's not fair what happened here
people show and disappear
why they decide to go is never clear
my memory has never failed
i remember the ship being sailed
the patterns of the waves had been unveiled
so time moves swiftly on
the past it has been and gone
and the future beckons you after this song

Six Days (Bonus Track)
02:07
|
|
||
on this raging stream there are
pictures we have seen in this
life we're living in so we
glance down with a grin and we
forget all of our fears and the
fortunes that the seer told us
cos no one has a clue what will
come from what we say and do
birds fly south and we remain
to mend earth's pure heart
six whole days is all it took
to spring away and fall into
the pile of leaves that wait for you
with warmth and love that you couldn't
have when you were so distant
but we all know the trees cannot
shelter from the breeze and the
birds fly south and we remain
to break the earth's pure heart
